MMS Networking - Disc Golf for Beginners
Sunday May 4, 2025 TBA
TBA
Have you heard of disc golf, but not sure what it is all about? Are you interested in giving it a try? Do you want some exercise and outside fun before the long, exciting week of MMS activities gets going? Or maybe you want an evening activity that is outside after a long day. Disc golf is a great, fun, outside activity that everyone can enjoy. No experience is necessary for this session. Sign up, come over to the course, and you'll get a chance to learn how to play, and then give it a shot (or more appropriately, a throw). We'll provide the necessary equipment, you just need to come and provide the enjoyment!

How do you get to the course? It's a mile walk or just take an Uber. If you meet up about 20 minutes before the session begins in front of the Blu, you can ask others out there if they're going to disc golf and share an Uber. At a mile away it'll be super cheap and Ubers are easy to get in front of the lobby.

Walk or Uber to: Cedarcrest Putters' Ridge

Look for Wally.
We plan to repeat what Wally did in 2024 so expect to signup and play Sunday and each night. Different dates, but days are the same. Look at Wally's schedule from 2024: https://mms2024atmoa.sched.com/artist/wally26

PowerShell Runspaces: Achieve Multi-Threaded Scripting
Monday May 5, 2025 1:00pm - 2:45pm CDT
Description:
PowerShell by default is just like any other scripting language. You issue commands and they are processed consecutively, one after the other. But what happens when we have multiple things to do that don't depend on each other? Do we really need to wait for the first task to complete before we start the next? We actually have a very robust capability with PowerShell to perform parallel processing. We're not talking about For-EachObject -Parallel. In this session we'll look at runspaces and how to leverage them to achieve multi-threaded scripting.

What you will learn:
  • How to set up and use runspaces and pools.
  • Methods for sharing data between threads/workers.
  • Techniques for debugging and troubleshooting runspaces.
  • Guidelines for utilizing constrained runspaces effectively.
